Councilor

Born in Bologna, Italy, 1955. MD degree in 1981. Postgraduate specializations in Sport Medicine and Medical Technology.
1981-1985: contract Researcher at the Istituto di Citomorfologia N.P. del C.N.R.
1982: visiting scientist at the Dept. of Histochemistry and Cytometry, Leiden University, Netherlands.
1983: visiting scientist at the il Beatson Institute for Cancer Research, Glasgow, U.K.
1986 present time: Full professor of Human Anatomy at the Faculty of Science, University of Urbino, Italy.
1987-2008: Director of the Centre of Citometry at the University of Urbino.
He was founder member and from 1990 to 1992 president of the Italian Society for Cytometry (G.I.C.).
1990-1996: councilor of the International Society for Analytical Cytology (ISAC).
1996-2006 core member of the European Working Group on Clinical Cell Analysis (EWGCCA).
From 2000 to 2003 partner of EC-funded EuroStandards consortium
From 2006 on, founder member and President of the ESCCA (European Society for Clinical Cell Analysis). 

From 2012 was among teh founder of the ESCCA Italian branch now merged into the ISCCA (Italian Society for Cytometric Cell Analysis).

From 1981 is teaching and practicing Cytometry. He is co-author of 160 scientific paper, the most of them regarding flow Cytometry.


Programme as an elected ESCCA Board Member:
Dissemination of cytometric knowledge and skills at any level.
Promotion of development and standardisation of new flow cytometric techniques for analysis of clinical relevance.
Strict cooperation with National Cytometric Societies and CCS.
Development of teaching courses in the field of Clinical Cell Analysis for the clinical general laboratory.
