Title: Do We Really Need 40 Colors? Rethinking Spectral Cytometry For Routine Diagnostics And MRD Monitoring

Speaker: Mikael Roussel, MD, Ph.D.
Hematology Laboratory & INSERM U1236
University Hospital Pontchaillou

The promise of spectral flow cytometry is often framed as a race toward increasingly complex 30 to >40 color panels. Yet, in routine clinical practice, that complexity carries real costs: longer assay development, greater susceptibility to unmixing inaccuracy, and quality-control burden, with limited evidence of added clinical value. This presentation makes the case for an alternative vision: leveraging spectral technology to build highly optimized, clinically actionable 15–20 color single-tube assays. By combining comprehensive immunophenotyping with the acquisition of millions of cells per sample, these assays enable robust Leukemia-Associated ImmunoPhenotype (LAIP) identification. The result: significantly improved measurable residual disease (MRD) detection sensitivity. Beyond sensitivity gains, one-tube panels also reveal marker co-expression patterns that were previously undetectable, and when paired with multidimensional analytical approaches, provide deeper insights into disease biology and better patient monitoring. The future of spectral cytometry in the routine laboratory may not be more colors — it is more clinical information, delivered with greater efficiency, lower costs, and time savings.

Corporate Lectures

Friday 11 September

16:30-16:45 - 300K Solutions

Title: Rethinking Sample Preservation for Modern Flow Cytometry

Speaker: Mario Tenera Morgado

Flow cytometry quality data depends on preserving phenotypic marker expression and minimizing degradation throughout collection, transport, and analysis.

This workshop will showcase an innovative freeze-drying strategy that enables white blood cells to remain stable for several months instead of only a few days, significantly expanding the window for downstream analysis. This makes it possible to postpone sample processing without compromising their suitability for immunophenotyping studies (flow cytometry assays).

Attendees will gain practical insight into how the 300K technology platform enhances flow cytometry laboratory workflows by helping to stop biomarker degradation from collection to analysis, enabling sample storage for subsequent multi-omics and immunophenotyping analysis, avoiding urgent and unexpected sample processing, reducing shipping and logistics costs, enabling cost-

efficient batch analysis and maintaining stable phenotypic marker expression over time.

Saturday 12 September

11:15-11:25 - Hema.to GmbH

Title: Efficient flow-cytometry data analysis with CellStudio (RUO)

Speaker: Dr. Martin Becker
