Maria Arroz

Councilor

My name is Maria Arroz, I am an MD, Clinical Pathologist, and I’ve been the Director of the Flow Cytometry Laboratory at 2 central hospitals, HEM and HSFX, in Lisbon, since 1993.

I’ve joined the European Working Group on Clinical Cell Analysis (EWGCCA) in 1999, was the scientist responsible for the Portuguese Center of the Eurostandards project (2000-2004) and a Board member of the EWGCCA Foundation, from 2001 until 2006. When ESCCA was created, I kept that position until 2009.

From 2002 until 2004, I was also a member of the Clinical Cytometry Society Counsil.

I was the director of the European Clinical Cytometry Courses, from their first edition in 2005 until 2009, the Leukemia Basic level course in 2011 and the Advanced leukemia Course in 2012.

I’ve been a Faculty member of the Clinical Cytometry annual courses and a member of the  Editorial Board of the Clinical Cytometry Journal since 2001.

If elected, I intend to use my previous experience and take ESCCA’s educational activities to an even higher level and to become an ESCCA embassador to help expand its influence inside and outside Europe.
